Mo Farah vs Usain Bolt: the poll

September 2024 · 1 minute read

Who would win in the greatest race in history? Public opinion is mostly split on the subject, but Britons give it to Bolt by a nose

British 10,000m and 5,000m olympic gold medalist Mo Farah has challenged fellow gold medalist, Jamacian sprinter Usain Bolt – who is the first man ever to hold both the 100m and 200m world records – to an epic race of 600m or more for charity. "Bolt are you up for that? Come on you've got to do it," Farah told Sky News earlier this week. The message was taken directly to Bolt, who said he would be happy to run in the race, but that it could not be longer than 600m, a length he had run in training. But who would win?

YouGov asked Britons just that question, and Bolt is the favourite – just. 43% give the edge to the fastest sprinter in the world, while 36% picked Team GB’s London 2012 golden boy. Another 20% say they don't know who would win.
