May 2024 · 3 minute read

Whoopi Goldberg will star in and exec produce “The Christmas Pearl,” portraying a ghost in the indie yuletide drama.

The film will be produced by Jeff Kranzdorf, David Belafonte and Julius R. Nasso and exec produced by Goldberg, her producing partner Tom Leonardis and Jeff Sackman.

Production is set to begin in June in New York City and South Carolina with TV director Felix Alcala helming from a script by Anne Rapp, based on the Dorothea Benton Frank novel.

Story is based around the 93-year-old matriarch of a South Carolina family who has gathered for a tension-filled Christmas at her stately home. When her usual maid is called away, a Christmas miracle presents itself as Pearl, the maid to the matriarch’s grandmother, who comes back to the family as a ghost.

Goldberg also appears in the upcoming Lifetime movie “A Day Late and a Dollar Short” and the feature films “Big Stone Gap” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
